Confluence: FMB challenges meet management consulting solutions
Confluence serves as a live consulting platform designed to foster cross-programme collaboration between participants of our Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) and full-time management programmes . Organised by SPJIMR’s CFBE annually, it enables practical learning through knowledge exchange to address real-world business challenges. PGPFMB participants present real-life challenges from their own family enterprises, while management students take on the role of professional consultants to analyse these problems and formulate viable, growth-oriented solutions. This collaborative exchange enhances the expertise of both groups and instills essential skills such as strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing future leaders for a constantly changing business ecosystem.
The Confluence Casebook
The Confluence Casebook institutionalises the learnings derived from this collaborative process.
The twenty cases in the book capture a journey where the established wisdom of Family Managed Businesses (FMB) meets the analytical rigour of SPJIMR’s full-time management programmes. By applying modern management logic to real-life obstacles, the solutions helped owners move from instinct-driven decisions to strategic growth.
It serves as a repository of knowledge for future scions and entrepreneurs committed to driving progress while honouring traditions.
The Casebook is an initiative led by students of the CFBE ADMAP (Assessment and Development of Managerial and Administrative Potential) Committee.
