Overview
The Finance and Accounting department at SPJIMR brings together academic scholars, hybrid scholar-practitioners, and senior industry professionals who together cover the full span of the discipline — financial accounting and reporting, corporate finance and valuation, capital markets and asset pricing, banking and financial institutions, international finance, financial econometrics, fintech, and corporate governance.
Our faculty combine doctoral training from institutions such as IIT Bombay, IIM Calcutta, IIM Bangalore, IIM Lucknow, and the Faculty of Management Studies, Delhi, with practice experience across investment banking, private equity, banking and mutual funds, audit and taxation, restructuring, and fintech entrepreneurship. Several members are Chartered Accountants, CFA Charterholders, and certified Financial Risk Managers. That mix is deliberate: it lets us teach finance as a discipline that is both analytically rigorous and answerable to the realities of markets, firms, and regulation.
The department faculty comprises core, adjunct, visiting and honorary faculty who bring current financial-services practice into the classroom. Faculty publish in journals listed on the ABDC and ABS (AJG) lists, including Business Strategy and the Environment, the European Journal of Political Economy, International Review of Finance, Review of Managerial Science, International Journal of Managerial Finance, International Review of Financial Analysis, Finance Research Letters, Asian Review of Accounting, Review of Accounting and Finance, and the Journal of Knowledge Management. Faculty are also active case writers, publishing with Ivey Publishing, Harvard Business Publishing, The Case Centre, and Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies.
The department anchors the finance core and elective streams across SPJIMR’s post-graduate, executive, and doctoral programmes. It carries a substantial share of SPJIMR’s executive education in finance, anchoring the Chief Financial Officer Programme and the Certification in Finance and Financial Analysis, and designs custom management development programmes for large Indian corporates — contributing to the institute’s wider agenda of advancing wise innovation.
