Design and AI

At SPJIMR, societal impact has long shaped the way we approach management education. We extended this focus to innovation because creating meaningful impact requires more than working within existing approaches. It calls for the willingness to question the status quo, experiment with new ideas and develop solutions to emerging challenges.

The Design and AI experiences bring this thinking to life through two complementary experiences: Design Thinking and Maker Lab. Together, these experiences gave students the opportunity to think creatively, work with emerging technologies and build with purpose. More importantly, they connected innovation with SPJIMR’s larger purpose of preparing managers who can create meaningful impact for business and society.

Design Thinking

Design Thinking

Design Thinking introduced students to a human-centred approach to problem-solving. It encouraged them to understand the needs and contexts of people they sought to serve, frame problems differently and explore solutions through experimentation and iteration.

Maker Lab

Maker Lab

Maker Lab took this approach from ideas to prototypes. Students worked on real-world problem statements, experimented with AI tools and built working prototypes, learning through the process of making, testing and refining. The experience reflected a simple shift in emphasis: from presenting what might work to demonstrating what could work.
