International@Home: Bringing global perspectives into the SPJIMR classroom
About
International@Home brings international and intercultural perspectives into the curriculum, making global learning accessible to every participant. Through International Teaching Week, distinguished international faculty and experts join SPJIMR classrooms, enabling participants to engage with diverse academic traditions, global business practices, and contemporary challenges.
The initiative is a curriculum-level intervention that prepares participants to understand an interconnected world, work confidently across cultures, and develop as globally aware, socially responsible managers and citizens. It builds on SPJIMR’s longstanding commitment to nurturing global mindsets through international curriculum components, visiting faculty, and meaningful on-campus global engagement.
International Teaching Week 2027
Navigating global business through four strategic lenses
The 2027 edition explores how organisations must navigate an increasingly interconnected and uncertain global environment. Across four complementary sessions, participants examine how geopolitical developments, sustainability imperatives, evolving customer expectations, and resilient supply chains are reshaping business strategy and organisational decision-making.
-
Session 1: Geopolitics
Participants will explore how geopolitics, international institutions, conflict, regulation and human rights increasingly influence corporate strategy, investment decisions and business risk across global markets.
Faculty
Dr. Eileen Doherty-Sil is Senior Lecturer in Political Science and Faculty Director of the Core and Africa General Program at the Joseph H. Lauder Institute of Management and International Studies, University of Pennsylvania. She contributes to the interdisciplinary curriculum of Penn’s joint MBA-MA programme in International Studies and brings more than two decades of executive education experience. Her teaching spans conflict and cooperation in the global arena, collective action, and the interaction between business and human rights. Her research focuses on international human rights law and the global governance of business and human rights. She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and has received multiple teaching awards.
-
Session 2: Regenerative Business Strategy
Participants will examine how organisations can redesign strategies, value chains and stakeholder relationships to restore natural and social systems while creating long-term economic value. The sessions encourage participants to move beyond viewing sustainability primarily through the lens of compliance or risk mitigation, and instead understand it as a driver of innovation, resilience and value creation.
Faculty
Dr. Laetitia Thomas is a Grenoble-based researcher, educator and consultant whose work spans strategy, systems thinking, sustainability and regenerative innovation. She holds a PhD from Université Grenoble Alpes and teaches innovation, sustainability and the circular economy across business and engineering schools in France, Switzerland and India. Her research examines circular and regenerative business models, ecosystem-based value creation, open-source innovation and responsible innovation. She is also a Circulab-certified consultant and an alumna of the Presencing Institute’s U-Lab Programme.
-
Session 3: International Marketing
Participants will explore the realities of building brands and customer strategies across international markets, examining how culture, technology, sustainability, market structures and consumer behaviour influence positioning, adaptation, communication and market entry.
Faculty
Prof. Kay Peters is the SVI-endowed Chair of Dialogue Marketing at the University of Hamburg and has served as a Visiting Professor at the University of California, Davis, since 2010. His research spans international marketing, customer centricity, communication dynamics, digital transformation, sustainability, entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence. He has published extensively in leading marketing journals and has served on the editorial boards of several prominent publications. Alongside his academic work, he advises companies, start-ups and non-profit organisations on sustainable digital transformation.
-
Session 4: Global Supply Chain Design
Participants will examine how demand uncertainty, geopolitical disruption, cost pressures, customer behaviour and data-based forecasting influence the design, resilience and performance of international supply networks and how organisations build supply chains that remain responsive in an increasingly volatile global environment.
Faculty
Dr. Roger Bailey is Associate Dean of Executive Education and Centers and Clinical Associate Professor in Marketing and Logistics at The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business. He holds a PhD in Economics from Vanderbilt University and previously served as Academic Director of Fisher’s Full-Time MBA programme. His teaching and research encompass market analysis, forecasting, behavioural economics, pricing, analytics and product design, with additional work examining macroeconomic influences on supply chains and behavioural aspects of warehouse management.
Value for SPJIMR students
Together, these four perspectives would create an integrated learning journey. Students examine how geopolitical developments reshape supply chains, how these shifts influence international markets and consumer behaviour, and how organisations can redesign their strategies and operating models to become more resilient, sustainable, and future-ready.
International Teaching Week will:
- Embed global perspectives within the curriculum, making international learning accessible to every participant.
- Encourage participants to compare Indian business realities with European and American academic, managerial and policy perspectives.
- Develop the ability to challenge assumptions, appreciate cultural differences and approach complex problems from multiple viewpoints.
- Connect geopolitics, sustainability, marketing and supply chain strategy as interdependent management disciplines rather than isolated subjects.
- Strengthen intercultural communication, intellectual curiosity, adaptability and responsible decision-making.
- Create opportunities for sustained faculty engagement, collaborative teaching, research and institutional partnerships.
International@Home reflects SPJIMR’s commitment to developing leaders who combine global awareness with contextual understanding, intellectual curiosity and responsible action. By bringing diverse international perspectives into the classroom, the initiative prepares participants to navigate complexity, collaborate across cultures and create meaningful impact in an interconnected world.
