How the SPJIMR summer internship works

The summer internship is a mandatory, credit-bearing part of the PGDM curriculum and typically lasts two months. Participants of the Class of 2028 (2026 – 28 batch) will complete theirs in April and May 2027, after their first year on campus.

Recruitment happens well before that. Companies usually hold pre-placement talks in August – September, and selection takes place in September – October, according to the SPJIMR placements page. SPJIMR moved to this summer model with the Class of 2024 – 26; earlier batches completed autumn internships.

SPJIMR PGDM summer placements

For many participants, the internship leads directly to a job offer. Historically, 40% to 50% of SPJIMR participants receive a pre-placement offer (PPO) through their internships or corporate competitions, and nearly half of the Class of 2026 did. Participants who accept one skip final placements. For everyone else, pre-placement talks for final placements usually begin in November, with interviews in mid-December.

PGDM and PGDM (BM): the programmes behind the results

SPJIMR’s PGDM is a two-year, full-time residential programme equivalent to a Master of Business Administration (MBA). The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) approves it, and the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) accredits it. SPJIMR also holds the international ‘Triple Crown’ of accreditations from the Association of MBAs (AMBA), the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

PGDM (BM) is also a two-year, full-time residential programme, with a general management focus. It admits 120 participants, who choose their own mix of courses to match their career goals.

Both programmes aim to develop socially sensitive leaders with a global mindset. SPJIMR wants participants to gain experience in their chosen domain before they graduate, so they start their first job with a head start. The summer internship is part of this, along with live projects, guest lectures and SPJIMR’s immersive experiences.

How SPJIMR approaches careers

SPJIMR’s mission is to influence managerial practice and promote value-based growth by advancing wise innovation. The institute looks beyond the size of any single offer to the careers its graduates build and how they lead and serve.

SPJIMR has achieved 100% final placements for eligible participants for more than 20 consecutive years. For the PGDM and PGDM (BM) 2024 – 26 batch, final placements recorded an average cost to company (CTC) of ₹33.75 lakhs per annum and a median of ₹32.85 lakhs.
