LiFE programme curriculum overview

This distinct women’s development programme involves curated modules that help a woman coming from a business family understand various skills required to explore herself as a business family member or probably build something of her own to become a successful future female entrepreneur.

  • LiFE programme module focused on understanding target customers. Understanding target customers
  • LiFE programme module covering the basics of finance. Basics of finance
  • LiFE programme module on leveraging technology for business growth. Technology and its use in business
  • LiFE programme module on navigating and understanding family dynamics. Family dynamics
  • LiFE programme module on leadership and developing an entrepreneurial mindset. Leadership and developing an entrepreneurial mindset

Electives

The participants will get to choose from the electives below:

  • Elective 1

    New venture creation

    Helps participants understand the various aspects needed to start one’s own business.

  • Elective 2

    Functional specialisation

    Helps participants understand one aspect of Marketing/Finance/HR and Admin with respect to family business.

Programme structure

  • 3 weeks of general management concepts followed by 1 week of elective and a final business plan presentation.
  • The electives can be in 2 streams: New venture or specialisation in a functional domain within the family business.
  • An overview of the business and exploring the participant’s role in the business, followed by a business plan presentation.
  • Sessions by senior faculty from industry and academia associated with SPJIMR’s FMB
  • Limited batch size for specialised learning experience
  • Certificate of participation
  • Three sources of enriching mentorship, guidance, motivational and networking sessions:

  • LiFE Confidante: Mentorship sessions

    LiFE Confidante is a family member who will help the participant transition from little or no roles in their family businesses to active family business managers and leaders. There is no limit on the age of the confidante (could be younger/older)

  • LiFE Coach: Guidance sessions

    LiFE Coach will offer guidance from industry experts specialising in specific domains.

  • LiFE Marshal: Motivational sessions

    LiFE Marshal are women alumni of the Family Business & Entrepreneurship programmes who successfully run their family businesses.
