SPJIMR’s Abhyudaya initiative was featured in a Financial Times (FT) article titled ‘Finance students’ ‘near-peer’ mentoring raises school pupils’ financial literacy.’ The article formed part of the special report, Business Education: Financial Training, which explored how business schools worldwide connected students and faculty with local communities to advance education and social development. Abhyudaya was featured alongside initiatives from nearly 50 institutions globally, including The Wharton School, Georgetown University and EDHEC Business School.

PRME Chapter India Meet 2026, themed ‘Transforming mindsets: Institutionalising sustainability’, was held online on February 26, 2026, to encourage wider participation from the PRME community across geographies. Organised by SPJIMR’s DoCC, the 2026 edition convened 200+ academic leaders, industry experts, sustainability practitioners, and students to advance dialogue on embedding sustainability within management education.

PRME Chapter India’s i5 awards celebrate individuals and institutions leading the way in responsible management education. The results were announced after evaluations by an external international jury. The award was presented on December 12, 2025, along with the Social Impact Awards at the SPJIMR campus, Mumbai. The event witnessed an enthusiastic response, with 88 applications from 63 institutions across the country.
SPJIMR’s DoCC organised the Social Impact Awards (SIA) to recognise social enterprises and organisations for their exceptional contributions to society across six award categories: Agriculture and Livelihood, Disability, Women Empowerment, Sustainability, Health, Nutrition, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and Education and Skill Development.
Ehsaas—The Mela is an annual event organised by the Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC) at SPJIMR, providing a platform for social enterprises, social organisations, farmer-producer organisations (FPOs), self-help groups (SHGs), and other micro-entrepreneurs to showcase their work and products. The event promotes collaboration, capacity building, and knowledge sharing among the underserved stakeholders. It serves as a vital forum for strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, empowering communities and contributing to social impact. Ehsaas aimed to establish long-term relationships between participants, scale up their ventures, and address systemic issues in agriculture, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.
Abhyudaya hosted its annual principals’ meeting, bringing together school leaders, educators, and partner organisations to strengthen collaboration and shape a shared vision for student development. The event welcomed nearly 50 principals and teachers from across 60 invited schools, creating a vibrant platform for dialogue and collective action.
SPJIMR hosted Hastantaran 2025 under the theme Jashn-e-Sitara on Sunday, celebrating a significant milestone for its Abhyudaya mentoring programme. The event symbolised a moment of transition, as Sitaras bid farewell to their current mentors and welcomed new ones who will guide them through the upcoming year. The day brought together performances, reflections, and interactions that captured the connections formed through this unique educational partnership.
SPJIMR Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC) hosted the Paper Development Workshop (PDW) in collaboration with Organization Studies — a multidisciplinary journal with global reach, rooted in the social sciences and Organization Theory — an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal in collaboration with the European Group for Organizational Studies. The workshop aimed to benefit academics, early career scholars, and Ph.D. students and offered them support in developing their manuscripts for submission to top-tier journals. As part of the paper development workshop, an online masterclass was held on 3rd September 2024. Prof. Chandrika Parmar, Director, DoCC SPJIMR, and the PRME India Chapter Chair welcomed the participants. The master class was conducted by Joep Cornelissen, Professor of Corporate Communications, Rotterdam School of Management.
Hastantaran 2024 marked the auspicious start of Abhyudaya for the PGDM cohort of 2024-26. ‘Celestial Connections’, the theme of Hastantaran 2024, highlighted the profound and deep bonds formed between the PGDM participants and the Sitaras.
I am thrilled to share my journey with Abhyudaya, an initiative by SPJIMR committed to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education. Abhyudaya played a vital role in transforming the educational landscape for underprivileged children, whom we affectionately called ‘Sitaras’. It helped these children realise their potential by providing comprehensive educational opportunities that catered to all aspects of their personalities. Throughout the year, Abhyudaya conducted various development programmes, including Sunday classes and winter/summer camps, offering a wide range of activities.
SPJIMR’s Development of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC) welcomed the first cohort of students from EDHEC Business School, France, for the 2024-25 Global Impact Project. Over the following three months, the inaugural group engaged in experiential learning, collaborating with NGO partners Cord India in Himachal Pradesh and Tarun Bharat Sangh in Rajasthan. The students had the opportunity to act, adapt, innovate, and grow by tackling real-world challenges, learning through hands-on action, positively impacting communities, and fostering empathy, collaboration, and cross-cultural understanding.
On the occasion of International Day of Women and Girls in Science, a literary and art contest on the ‘Role of Women in Building a Sustainable Future’ was organised. The event followed the culmination of the Abhyudaya visits for the PGDM and PGDM (BM) batch of 2023-25 and witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 100 Sitaras and their mentors.
Mentors and Sitaras had their last visit of the year with a day of fun-fair-styled games made from recycled materials. A day filled with laughter, creativity, and unforgettable memories.
Hastantaran 2023 started off with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by SPJIMR Dean, Varun Nagaraj, Abhyudaya Director Arati Nagaraj and the Abhyudaya team. The flagship event was attended by SPJIMR faculty, PGDM participants, Sitaras and their families. The event commenced with an inspiring speech delivered by Arati Nagaraj, Director of Abhyudaya, setting the stage for an eventful day ahead. Every year Hastantaran celebrates with great fanfare the handing over of the special mentor–mentee bond, by our second-year participants (PGP-2) to our first-year participants (PGP-1).
