Hastantaran 2023

July 30, 2023

Hastantaran 2023 started off with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by SPJIMR Dean, Varun Nagaraj,  Abhyudaya Director Arati Nagaraj and the Abhyudaya team. The flagship event was attended by SPJIMR faculty, PGDM participants, Sitaras and their families. The event commenced with an inspiring speech delivered by Arati Nagaraj, Director of Abhyudaya, setting the stage for an eventful day ahead. Every year Hastantaran celebrates with great fanfare the handing over of the special mentor–mentee bond, by our second-year participants (PGP-2) to our first-year participants (PGP-1).

Hastantaran literally means ‘transfer of hands’; however, in the context of Abhyudaya, it has always signified the transfer of shared hopes and experiences from the previous batch to the next one. Special bonds and everlasting impact were the essence of the heart-warming memories shared by the Sitaras and their outgoing (PGP-2) mentors in the thought-provoking panel discussion. Their insightful exchanges provided valuable perspectives on mentoring and growth, leaving the new mentors with much to contemplate.

The event featured captivating performances by our participants and Sitaras. The highlight of the event was the most anticipated revelation of Mentor-Sitara mappings. As the new mentors and mentees embarked on their journey of growing together, the mindfully designed ice-breaking sessions offered the perfect opportunity to know and connect with each other. In addition to the enriching experiences, participants preserve precious memories at the delightful selfie booth, which featured fun props and backdrops. The #meetmysupersitara contest was a particular hit, capturing the heartfelt bonds shared between the Sitaras and their mentors. Hastantaran 2023 celebrated the spirit of mentorship and growth, leaving a lasting impact on all those in attendance.

SPJIMR’s Abhyudaya aims to foster social responsibility in its B-school students with its year-long mentorship programme in which first-year PGDM programme participants mentor bright, underprivileged children called Sitaras. Abhyudaya is a transformative experiential learning course in which SPJIMR participants visit Sitara homes throughout the academic year to conduct mentoring sessions. Abhyudaya has been addressing UN SDG 4 of Quality Education by engaging actively with the Sitara community. Know more.
