When I joined the PGPM programme at SPJIMR, I expected rigorous academics, case studies, and collaborative learning. What I did not anticipate was how quickly the programme would begin reshaping my understanding of industries, careers, and my own professional journey.
The guest session: reality check on building a career in IT Services
One such moment of clarity came during a guest session by SPJIMR PGPM alumnus Sanyam Bhasin, Solutions Architect at Zensar Technologies. It helped me understand the levels of roles available and the kind of projects we will be doing. It also helped understand presentations, data analysis and essential tools needed in future.
Sanyam clearly explained the reliance on analytics tools to interpret large volumes of data and convert them into actionable insights, which ultimately support better operational and strategic decision-making. Coming from a non-technical background, I gained clarity about the skills required to succeed in the corporate environment. My key takeaways:
A diverse cohort strengthens peer-to-peer learning
My experience during the first two months of the PGPM programme has been very engaging and full of learning. The pace of the curriculum is definitely demanding, but it is also helping us with time management every day. Interacting and working with classmates from diverse professional backgrounds definitely enhances the learning experience, as everyone brings unique perspectives and insights to discussions.
The knowledge and learning I am gaining from my peers and faculty go far beyond what I could have acquired through work experience alone. Peer learning and networking have been extremely valuable, although at times I wish we had even more opportunities during the week to exchange experiences and learn from one another.
Pursuing MBA to enhance managerial and strategic thinking skills
After gaining work experience as a Catalogue Specialist at Amazon, pursuing an MBA felt like the right step for me to enhance my managerial and strategic thinking skills. My previous professional experience has helped me appreciate the importance of structured business knowledge, and the PGPM programme is now helping me deepen my understanding of various business functions.
SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is an 18-month AICTE-approved General Management programme, ideal for experienced executives with over three years of work experience. The programme commences with an online module for two months, an on-campus residential module for 12 months, and four months of start-up/social impact projects and international immersion. PGPM addresses the unique needs of accomplished and ambitious professionals/executives seeking career acceleration or transition.
