Ramraj Pai is the Former CEO of the India Impact Investors Council (IIC), India’s pre-eminent not-for-profit industry body focused on building the impact investing ecosystem. During his tenure, Ramraj partnered with IIC members, including social impact-focused investors and foundations, to drive three key agendas: articulating a compelling narrative for the Indian impact investing sector to facilitate capital flows, engaging with governments and regulators to showcase the power of social impact investing, and building a robust in-house research capability to provide ongoing analysis of industry performance, sector trends, and emerging areas.

Before joining IIC, Ramraj had a career spanning over two decades at CRISIL, serving in various leadership roles, culminating as the President. He led the SME rating business, scaling it to over 25,000 ratings by developing low-cost products and expanding business development efforts. As Director and Head of Structured Finance Ratings, he focused on new product development and investor outreach, working on innovative structures in asset-backed securities, mortgage-backed securities, and collateralised debt obligations.

Ramraj also led the CRISIL Foundation as CEO, focusing on the development of open-source financial empowerment programmes for rural women, with the larger goal of providing expertise to banks, corporates, regulators, and governments to aid similar programmes across the country.
