Strengthening academic governance through management education

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB) Institute of Management Science, Kolkata, has appointed Prof. Debmallya Chatterjee, Chairperson, Blended Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) at S. P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR), to its Governing Body, effective July 1, 2026.
The appointment recognises Prof. Chatterjee’s contributions to management education, research and academic leadership, and reflects the value of experienced educators in shaping institutions and strengthening higher education.
Prof. Chatterjee brings extensive experience across teaching, research, and leadership development. At SPJIMR, he has contributed to the institute’s academic community through teaching, scholarship, industry engagement and thought leadership, while supporting the development of future-ready and responsible business leaders.
In his role on the Governing Body, Prof. Chatterjee will contribute to the strategic direction and governance of BIMS, supporting its continued development as an institution focused on management education and leadership development. His appointment also creates opportunities for greater exchange of ideas and knowledge across institutions within the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan ecosystem.
