S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) Centre for Wisdom in Leadership (CWIL) organised a memorable movie night, showcasing the inspiring film Dead Poets Society. This event offered participants an opportunity to reflect on the themes of individuality, passion, and the transformative power of mentorship—values that resonate deeply with CWIL’s mission of implementing leadership with wisdom.
The movie screening emphasised the importance of courage, creativity, and authenticity in both personal and professional realms, encouraging participants to explore how these qualities can shape values-driven leadership.
The event saw heartwarming attendance from SPJIMR participants across programmes. It began with a brief introduction, highlighting the relevance of the movie’s themes to leadership and self-discovery. As the film unfolded, participants were drawn into the story of Mr. John Keating, an unconventional teacher who inspired his students to embrace poetry, their dreams, and the philosophy of carpe diem (seize the day).
Following the screening, a small discussion allowed participants to share their perspectives and connect the movie’s message with their own experiences. This reflective dialogue created a sense of camaraderie among attendees and deepened their understanding of the film’s themes.
One attendee remarked, “This was not just a movie screening but an opportunity to introspect. Dead Poets Society reminded me of the importance of staying true to myself while leading with empathy and purpose.”
Another participant shared, “I’d watched this film before, but watching it here with the discussions brought fresh insights. It reinforced the importance of courage and creativity in leadership.”
The Dead Poets Society movie night was an enriching experience, offering attendees a chance to unwind, reflect, and grow. By connecting storytelling with leadership lessons, the event highlighted CWIL’s commitment to holistic development within the SPJIMR community.
CWIL looks forward to hosting more such events that integrate creativity, wisdom, and leadership to inspire positive change.
