Upcoming: Teaching with Simulations

April 18, 2025

Overview

April 18-19, 2025

This workshop is conducted by SPJIMR faculty, with content support from Harvard Business Publishing (HBP), to help instructors gain a deeper understanding of their approach to using simulations (SIMs) within their courses in the classrooms.

Simulations are powerful tools for reinforcing student learning, set in seemingly real-world environments. They are simple to set up and extremely user-friendly as teaching tools in classrooms and can be used across courses and programmes.

The workshop seeks to familiarise the participants with the techniques needed to integrate SIMs within a course and equip them with the necessary skills.

The workshop is intended as a general introduction for B-school instructors from all disciplines. The following criteria are desirable for getting the maximum benefits from this workshop.

  • Some interest in using SIMs
  • Any experience of use of innovative technology in class

The workshop covers a broad range of topics, including:

  • Setting up a class for using SIMs
  • Experience of using an HBP SIM
  • Group work vs individual work
  • Designing classroom teaching plans around SIMs
  • Questioning, listening and responding
  • Debrief and wrap-up
