The annual Diwali celebrations at SPJIMR featured a week of exciting competitions and festivities, meticulously planned by our HR team. The week kicked off with a bang as colleagues showcased their skills in sports like cricket and carrom. From aspiring Sachin Tendulkars to first-time bat holders, everyone brought their A-game.
The competitive spirit continued with more sports action, along with a Rangoli and Lantern Making Competition. Creativity reached an all-time high as participants unleashed their artistic talents, crafting vibrant art pieces from recycled materials to promote eco-friendly celebrations. Mid-week saw the clash of master chefs as teams and individuals whipped up colourful, delicious salads and sandwiches, offering healthy as well as tasty additions to the rich Diwali sweets.
Next was the Bay Decoration competition across the Institute. Creativity reached new heights as each bay sparkled with lights, lanterns, and festive decor. From recreations of the Ramayana to tributes to Shivaji Maharaj and the late Ratan Tata, each department put in immense effort to win the coveted ‘Best Bay’ title.
The grand finale featured Prof. Sesha Iyer’s legendary Diwali stories, vibrant performances, soulful songs, and foot-tapping dances. Performances by both faculty members and professional staff showcased the diversity of the SPJIMR community, underscoring the value of being rooted in tradition while embracing a contemporary approach. The winners of various competitions were announced and awarded. Festive cheer and warm Diwali wishes echoed across the campus as the community departed for the anticipated Diwali break.
