PGPFMB participants gained global business insights at Esade

The participants of Batch 38 of the Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) undertook a nine-day immersion programme at Esade Business School in Barcelona, Spain. The programme combined meticulously curated sessions on key areas such as the entrepreneurial orientation required to become a global business leader, cross-cultural communication, the Spanish and EU business landscape, and a full-day simulation on leading change in global organisations.

Alongside classroom sessions and simulations, participants also visited Top Cable, a family business with more than 40 years of history, and Familia Torres, a fifth-generation wine producer. These visits added a valuable practical dimension to the academic immersion.

On the final day, participants delivered presentations outlining how they planned to apply the insights and knowledge gained at Esade to their respective family businesses.

Esade, a triple-accredited business school, is a member of the UNIJES network of Jesuit universities and has been part of Ramon Llull University since 1995. Founded in 1958 in collaboration with the Society of Jesus, it is committed to driving positive change in business, entrepreneurship, and society.

International immersions such as this play a vital role in shaping SPJIMR participants into globally minded business leaders. The PGPFMB, designed to equip new entrants to family businesses with the skills required for personal and enterprise growth, emphasises preserving the legacy of previous generations while fostering sustainable success. Launched in 1997, it remains India’s pioneering programme in this domain.
