PGPFMB Batch 29 has successfully completed their regional immersion module at National Institute of Technology, NIT, Srinagar. Regional Immersion is conducted in Phase II, the advanced phase of the PGPFMB programme. A typical day in a regional immersion involves having sessions conducted at our partner B School / College in the host city. Academic sessions are conducted during the major part of the day, and the evenings are dedicated to engaging activities like meetings with trade associations, talks or meet & greet by SPJIMR alumni from the host locations, fireside chats, etc. The participants also meet various business owners and traders from the location and gain experiential insights about businesses.

Regional Immersion offers PGPFMB participants an opportunity to explore emerging markets in tier two /tier three cities of India. These markets are increasingly garnering attention from investors due to their more cost-effective living and operating environments, expanding infrastructure, and favourable government policies. A vital component of the PGPFMB programme, Regional Immersion provides unparalleled exposure, allowing participants to understand the distinct advantages these regions offer to family-managed businesses. Through this immersion, participants gain insights into potential higher returns, identify business opportunities, and establish valuable connections with peers and alumni, enriching their overall learning experience.

The Srinagar immersion was packed with several informative experiences planned meticulously. Members from the Confederation of Indian industry (CII), Jammu & Kashmir, addressed our participants and interacted with them at the networking dinner. The participants also interacted with young entrepreneurs and government officials at Kashmir University and enjoyed a series of cultural events, including the cultural evening and the gala dinner hosted at SSM College of Engineering & Technology.

SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) is designed to groom new entrants to family businesses to enable organic growth for themselves and their family businesses. It helps them preserve and nurture the legacy of the earlier generations and leave one’s indelible mark on the family business for years to come. Conceived and launched in 1997, the programme is the pioneer in post-graduate family-managed business programmes in India. It has grown in strength, with 37 batches already having gone through the programme.
