SPJIMR celebrates the success of EnPower Batch 7

SPJIMR’s EnPower Certificate Programme in Entrepreneurship recently concluded its seventh batch, bringing together undergraduates and recent graduates from across India for five weekends of immersive learning.

Designed to introduce young learners to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, EnPower blends classroom learning with practical application, mentorship, and collaborative learning. Throughout the programme, participants explored entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, business fundamentals, design thinking, and problem-solving while working in teams to develop and present their own business plans.

The final day marked the culmination of learning as participants presented their business plans before Prof. Ganga S, Mentor-in-Residence, and Saketh Bhagavatula, Co-founder, Liminal Tech Pvt. Ltd. Their feedback encouraged participants to think critically, strengthen their ideas, and refine their approach to building viable solutions.

In her concluding address, Prof. Tulsi Jayakumar, Executive Director, Centre for Family Business and Entrepreneurship, SPJIMR, shared practical insights into what it takes to build and present an entrepreneurial venture. She emphasised that while a strong educational background and institutional pedigree can open doors, founders distinguish themselves through the confidence with which they communicate their ideas, supported by relevant data, thoughtful experimentation, and a clear understanding of the problem they seek to solve.

Encouraging participants to cultivate curiosity, she urged them to identify gaps, think differently, and create meaningful value. She also highlighted communication as a key entrepreneurial skill, reminding participants to speak with clarity and conviction, pay attention to body language and active listening, and remember that even silence can be a powerful form of communication.

The programme concluded with the Hustle Challenge, a team-based activity that tested participants’ creativity, collaboration, and ability to think on their feet.

Over the five weekends, participants progressed from exploring ideas to presenting structured business plans. Along the way, they learned from faculty, mentors, and their peers, while building confidence in problem-solving, teamwork, and presenting their ideas.

Reflecting on their experience, participants shared that EnPower helped them look at entrepreneurship differently. They appreciated the opportunity to apply concepts through hands-on activities and recognised that entrepreneurship is not only about starting a business but also about developing life skills such as confidence, resilience, communication, and creative problem-solving. Many also spoke about the importance of embracing experimentation, learning from failures, keeping an open mind, and approaching challenges from different perspectives rather than looking for a single “right” answer.

As Batch 7 concludes, it marks another milestone in SPJIMR’s commitment to nurturing entrepreneurial thinking among young learners. The programme equips participants with practical skills, fresh perspectives, and the confidence to continue exploring opportunities beyond the classroom.
