SPJIMR CISD successfully concluded the India module of the Business and Social Impact in Emerging Markets (BSIEM) programme for 2024. SPJIMR is the Indian partner institute for the Business and Social Impact in Emerging Markets (BSIEM) programme. The programme offers enhanced learning by connecting students with various experiences, situations, problems and opportunities. It encourages them to tackle social problems by adopting sustainable approaches, which may include launching successful business models. The University/Institute partners share their expertise in adopting sustainable approaches and business models in the context of their respective countries. The chosen focus areas are Brazil – Social Innovation, Colombia – Bottom-of-Pyramid/Circular Economy, India – Adopting Sustainability, Russia – Challenges: ESG Agenda in Russia under sanctions, and Mexico – Technology for Social Entrepreneurs.
BSIEM 2024 edition India module included students from Universidad de Monterrey in Mexico, Universidad Externado de Colombia, IBS Institute of Business Studies and The Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration in Russia. The programme opened with a showcase of SPJIMR student-led initiatives, delving deep into waste management modules and engaging expert-led sessions with discussions centred around sustainability. The industry experts included Shishir Joshi, Founder and Chief Executive of the award-winning not-for-profit Project Mumbai and Rahul Podaar, the Managing Director of The Shakti Plastics Industries. They shared valuable insight and learnings about waste management from their domain experiences.
The collaborative spirit among students from diverse geographies and cultures was inspiring. They addressed real-world challenges with enthusiasm, working on projects with our partner organisations Green Energy Projects Ltd. and RUR Greenlife Private Ltd. Green Energy Projects Ltd is a specialist consultancy facilitating innovation and sustainable growth, working with businesses to develop and nurture new markets and opportunities in the supply chain. RUR Greenlife Private Ltd. is a social-environmental enterprise recognised for its work in urban solid waste management.
