The success story of Purva Jindal, PGP-FMB, SPJIMR (Batch 2017-18)
In today’s rapidly evolving world, entrepreneurship is emerging as a key driver of economic growth and innovation. New generations are increasingly turning to entrepreneurship as a preferred career path, driven by a desire for independence, creativity, and impact. With the digital economy creating endless possibilities, it’s no surprise that the global trend towards entrepreneurship is accelerating.
However, to meet the challenges of building and leading successful businesses, aspiring entrepreneurs need more than just passion—they need the right skills, mindset, and support. This is where business schools (b-schools) play a pivotal role, equipping future leaders with the tools and knowledge required to thrive in today’s competitive landscape.
The role of b-schools in nurturing entrepreneurs
Entrepreneurship education has become essential as more people seek to break away from traditional corporate roles and venture into business ownership. B-schools are responding to this demand by offering specialised programmes focused on entrepreneurship. But why is this education so critical?
Entrepreneurship programmes provide a structured environment where students learn how to develop business strategies, identify market opportunities, and build sustainable enterprises. The curriculum often goes beyond theory to include hands-on learning, real-world projects, and mentorship from successful entrepreneurs. This comprehensive approach helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and practical business challenges.
Moreover, entrepreneurship education emphasises key qualities such as leadership, innovation, and resilience—essential traits for navigating the unpredictable nature of business. Through these programmes, students gain valuable insights into managing resources, mitigating risks, and driving growth.
B-schools also foster an environment of collaboration and networking, giving students the opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals, mentors, and potential investors. This network can be a critical resource for budding entrepreneurs as they launch and scale their businesses.
Purva Jindal’s journey to success, powered by SPJIMR!
Purva Jindal, a 29-year-old from Bhilwara, Rajasthan, had always known that she wanted to carve her own path. After pursuing her management education at S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) in Mumbai, she considered joining her family’s business, expecting the programme to boost her confidence, provide opportunities to build valuable connections and shape her into a successful business leader. However, the COVID-19 pandemic gave her a moment of reflection, and she chose to take a different route—organic farming. Despite having no background in agriculture, Purva’s entrepreneurial drive led her to build a successful business focused on delivering healthy, organic produce to consumers.
Read her story that highlights the transformative power of entrepreneurship programmes in fostering new ventures.

“When I enrolled in SPJIMR’s entrepreneurship programme, I had no idea how much it would change the course of my career. Like many others, I initially thought of continuing my family business, but the programme opened my eyes to new opportunities. The 2020 pandemic became a turning point for me. I was always passionate about health and well-being, and I started noticing the negative impact that non-organic produce had on people’s health. That’s when I decided to venture into organic farming—something completely outside my comfort zone.
With no background in agriculture, I faced numerous challenges, from learning about soil nutrients to understanding organic pesticides. But my entrepreneurial training gave me the tools to handle these obstacles with confidence. I built an organic farm from scratch, starting my own nursery and planting a variety of vegetables and fruits. Today, I not only grow crops but have also expanded into dairy farming, producing ghee from my Gir cows.
It’s been a rewarding journey, and my farm now earns around Rs 25 lakh annually. More importantly, I’m making a difference in my community by promoting healthy, organic produce. The entrepreneurship programme at SPJIMR equipped me with the skills to follow my passion, turn it into a thriving business, and contribute to a healthier society. The future is bright, and I’m working on expanding my farm and helping others venture into organic farming as well.“
