S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) PGDM 2025-27 participants Sanidhy Raghuwanshi and Dev Khemani won the Mumbai regional round of the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) Electron Quiz 2026–27, marking SPJIMR’s first win at the event.
36 teams from engineering and management institutions across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan and Goa took part. The theme was ‘anything and everything from the world of business and management’. An on-the-spot written round took the field down to six teams, and those six competed in a multimedia on-stage final with audio-visual, rapid-fire and buzzer questions.
SPJIMR won the first prize of ₹60,000. Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies took second place, and IIT Bombay finished third. The first and second-placed teams will now represent NTPC Western Region-I at the national level.
The win did not come easily. The pair made repeated mistakes in the prelims and came close to elimination. They stayed calm, took one question at a time and recovered. At one stage they trailed by a wide margin, but they waited for the questions they knew and answered the last three in a row, which carried greater weightage.
“The competition tested our patience along with knowledge,” Sanidhy commented. “This was our second win together. It came after a few months of preparation and hard work, so it felt more rewarding.”
Both winners also credit Prof. Debraj Ghoshal. The fun facts and trivia he shared in class taught them to work out answers from the hints within a question, and his advice to stay calm and wait for the right questions helped them turn the contest around.
The winners have a message for first-year participants. Many students step away from competitions after the summer internship season and stay within a ‘campus bubble’, which limits their potential and their networks beyond their batch. “Such events reward you in both experience and money,” they noted. “Use them well while you are still on campus.”
Congratulations to Sanidhy and Dev, and best wishes for the national round.
