SPJIMR Dean, Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, was awarded the “Change Maestro and Institution Builder of the Year” at the Industry Academia Conference 2020 (ICA) by a jury of eminent academics and corporate leaders convened by Padmashri Dr Pritam Singh and P Dwarkanath, Director, Human Capital, Max Group India and Director, GSK.
The IAC is an event where corporate leaders and distinguished academics discuss the future of management education in India and recognise the telling contributions made in the space. Previous winners of this award include Janat Shah, Director at IIM Udaipur, Father Abraham, Director XLRI, and Rishikesha Krishnan, former Director of IIM Indore.
While accepting the award Dr. Banerjee recognized the strides SPJIMR had made over the years, “I do not think five years at the helm is enough for anyone to claim to be an institution builder. I have therefore concluded that this award is a recognition of the sustained progress that our institute has made over an extended period of time. I just happen to be in the right place at the right time.”
Dr. Banerjee also recognized the significant legacy of the Institute’s former long-serving dean, Dr. M. L. Srikanth, who “created the foundation of the institute as we know it. The courage to think differently, the deep sense of caring for the student, a strong value foundation and social conscience,a unique and powerful mission statement which guides us till this date, and a robust, diversified financial model were all part of his legacy and vision. If we are able to see a little further than others, it is because we are standing on the shoulders of a giant.”
The Dean went on to thank the faculty, staff, students, alumni, the Bharitya Vidya Bhavan’s leadership and the SPJIMR governing council for helping the institute grow day by day and vowed that SPJIMR will keep getting even better.
