Samrat Bagchi

Associate Professor, Strategy

Samrat Bagchi brings over 18 years of diverse experience across the banking and information technology sectors, having held senior positions at organisations such as Tata Business Support Services, Firstsource Solutions, and IDBI Bank. Prior to entering academia, he successfully led and managed several new ventures across Asia, the Middle East, and the UK. Post which he pursued his doctoral studies at the Indian Institute of Management Indore.

Mr. Bagchi’s research focuses on the intersection of technology, business, and society. His doctoral thesis examines how incumbent firms from emerging economies orchestrate digital business ecosystems to build competitive advantage. His work has been presented at leading international and national conferences, including AOM and AIB, and he has published a teaching case with Harvard Business Publishing.

His teaching interests include competitive and corporate strategy, international business strategy, and ecosystem strategy. As a practitioner-academic, Mr. Bagchi is deeply committed to integrating research with real-world application, promoting interdisciplinary collaboration, and adopting a field-to-classroom approach in his teaching.

Beyond his academic and professional pursuits, Mr. Bagchi is an avid angler and wildlife enthusiast. He is also a passionate follower of modern and contemporary Indian art and an emerging street photography hobbyist.
