  • How is the programme delivered? What is the schedule and format of the SYB programme?

    The Start Your Business (SYB) programme is a 4-month weekend programme delivered via a hybrid format. While most sessions are online, the offline classes take place at SPJIMR’s Mumbai campus.

  • Does SPJIMR provide study material for the SYB programme?

    Yes, every module of the SYB programme provides essential study material, including supporting materials, reference materials, additional readings, and faculty take-home presentations.

  • How many participants have launched their ventures?

  • Do I get a placement at the end of the programme?

    As SPJIMR’s Start Your Business (SYB) programme is entirely focused on helping you start your own business, rather than find traditional employment, formal job placements are not provided.

    However, the course offers extensive exposure and deep networking opportunities within the start-up ecosystem, giving you direct access to successful entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts.

  • Are the fees refunded if I decide to drop out of the programme?

    Unfortunately, we do not offer refunds.

  • What is the profile of the faculty for this programme?

    The Start Your Business (SYB) programme is taught by a blend of core SPJIMR faculty and expert practitioners drawn directly from the industry.

    SPJIMR faculty members bring extensive experience in educating Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). Additionally, the programme leverages a robust network of venture capitalists (VCs), investors, marketers, and other key players from across the entrepreneurial ecosystem to provide real-world insights.

    If you are a graduate and interested in becoming an entrepreneur, you are eligible to apply for the programme.

  • What is the selection process of the SYB programme at SPJIMR?

    The SYB selection is based on the information provided by the candidate in the application form. The programme team will contact you for more information if required. SYB seeks sincere and committed participants who are keen to start their venture(s).

  • Will I have to appear for examinations?

    The course emphasises practical applications of the concepts discussed in class. We expect the participants to utilise them to get closer to the launch of their venture. Although there will be no examinations or grading, participants will be expected to give presentations and participate in discussions at various stages of the programme.

  • Will I get a diploma after completing the SYB programme at SPJIMR?

    Upon completing the course, participants receive a certificate of participation. Please note that all course requisites, including the minimum attendance criterion of 75%, are essential.

  • Is the programme duration too short to meet the programme objectives?

    Our 20+ years of experience show that this is the optimal timeframe for the curriculum. The majority of SYB participants agree that both the duration and format are perfectly balanced, enabling them to build a new business plan effectively while managing their current employment or existing business commitments.

  • Can I join the SPJIMR SYB programme if I have already started my venture?

    Yes, the Start Your Business (SYB) programme is specifically designed to support existing start-ups and early-stage ventures. If you are currently running a business and facing hurdles with scaling, the programme helps bridge critical management gaps by offering:

  • What about Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA)?

    SPJIMR was founded by Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, one of India’s pioneering cultural and educational institutions. The faculty and programme team are very conscious of upholding the institution’s values. Among participants, the strong bonding developed eliminates the need for an NDA.

  • I have completed all admission formalities for the current batch, but I will not be able to attend the sessions of the current batch. Can I attend the next batch?

    The SYB programme does not allow deferral from one batch to another under any circumstances. As it is a high-intensity programme, applicants are required to be fully committed and participate in the batch they have enrolled in.
