DoCC internship: A rewarding experience

The Department of Corporate Citizenship (DoCC) presented us with a rewarding experience working for the All India Disaster Mitigation Institute, Ahmedabad, where we were exposed to thinking globally while working at the grassroots level. We also learned a lot from our interactions with the locals of Ahmedabad and the surrounding areas. They shared with us insights about food, culture, clothing & art and how they have created a self-sustaining business out of the same.

We were exposed to disaster management plans at the city, district, state, and national levels, along with upcoming disasters such as heat waves. This paved the way to dive deeper into disaster management as we did secondary research from a consultant’s POV. We created a base for the NGO, pitching our findings and scope of improvement in the existing disaster management plans with the appreciative enquiry framework to the concerned government bodies in a constructive manner.

The guidance and encouragement we received from Mr. Mihir Bhatt, founder & director at AIDMI, Senior Fellow of the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative and a Massachusetts Institute of Technology alumnus, along with the entire AIDMI family, was the icing on the cake.
