Rakesh Bhutoria is a Private Equity Investor & Managing Director with Banyantree Finance Pvt Ltd. engaged in providing Growth Capital for small and mid-cap businesses in India. In this role, Rakesh is actively engaged with Promoter Owners through the lifecycle of the investment, supporting build-out of the investee companies till their eventual exit. Rakesh has previously held senior leadership roles with Standard Chartered Bank in India and the Middle East, IDFC First Bank, CRISIL, GE Capital, and SREI. Notably, during the dot com era, he led a B2B online platform focused on the agri-commodity space.
In addition to being a Private Equity professional, Rakesh maintains a diverse portfolio of commitments that underscore his dedication to social entrepreneurship, academia, and sustainable practices. He serves as a Partner and Grants Committee Member with Social Venture Partners India, actively contributing to capacity building for social entrepreneurs. He also holds the position of Executive Fellow at Woxsen University, bridging the gap between industry and academia. Furthermore, he serves as a Member of the Dean’s Advisory Council and Member Advisory Committee for Sustainability Management Specialization at the School of Business, Mody University of Science & Technology. Rakesh is a Chevening Fellow and a SkyBlue Fellow and holds a Public Leadership Credential from Harvard Kennedy School and is also a Fellow of the Institute of Directors.
