SPJIMR’s Centre for Family Business and Entrepreneurship (CFBE) launched Sashakt, a transformative programme designed to empower micro-business entrepreneurs from Mumbai’s Andheri K-West Ward.
The inaugural cohort features seven exceptional individuals, all alumni of SPJIMR’s Abhyudaya programme, underscoring the centre’s commitment to nurturing community talent. The event highlighted SPJIMR’s commitment to serve all sections of society, including marginalised communities.
Sashakt equips entrepreneurs from low-income backgrounds with essential skills in finance, marketing, operations, and leadership. The programme blends practical sessions with mentorship from SPJIMR faculty and alumni, fostering collaboration and real-world learning.
Prof. Tulsi Jayakumar, Executive Director of CFBE, welcomed the participants and emphasised the transformative potential of Sashakt. She said, “You chose to become someone who did not go out and search for employment. You decided to start doing your work by yourself. Today, you have the power to transform your local communities with Sashakt.”
Dean Varun Nagaraj shared an inspiring story from his visit to the University of Stellenbosch Business School in South Africa, drawing parallels to Sashakt’s mission of using entrepreneurship to uplift marginalised communities. He stressed the importance of determination, mentorship, and education in driving sustainable change.
The event concluded with the participant’s inspiring stories, and all of them recognised the programme’s potential to create meaningful and lasting impact. All the attendees left motivated by the opportunity to support the growth and success of these micro-business leaders.
