On International Mental Health Day, SPJIMR hosted a mental health wellness session to promote mental well-being among participants. The interactive session, titled ‘Are the ANTs responsible for your stress? was facilitated by our in-house counsellor, Ms. Dimple Wagle. The focus of the session was on recognising and managing Automatic Negative Thoughts (ANTs) to foster healthier self-talk and improve mental well-being.
One of the highlights of the session was an activity where Ms. Dimple portrayed a struggling middle-aged woman grappling with suicidal thoughts and depression. This powerful role-play captivated the audience, shedding light on the concept of “Triggers” and “Glimmers.” The term “Glimmers” was introduced in an activity, where participants identified small, positive reminders from their childhood, such as chocolates, snacks, and flowers, which brought comfort and happiness.
The session’s interactive nature, which included role-playing, drama therapy, and engaging discussions, allowed participants to better understand the importance of managing mental health triggers and finding joy in simple things. Ms. Dimple’s approach helped create a safe and supportive environment for the attendees.
With 40 participants, this session proved to be both educational and memorable, providing valuable insights into mental health and empowering individuals to practice healthier self-talk.
