April 16, 2024

SPJIMR PGDM (2022-24) participant Harsh Mehta was one of the youth delegates selected globally to attend the prestigious United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Youth Forum 2024 at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA from April 16-18, 2024. He was selected due to his association with PRME Global Students as a Regional Leader in Central and South Asia.

The Forum provided a global platform for dialogue among Member States and young leaders from around the world on solutions to challenges affecting youth wellbeing. The 2024 Forum’s discussions were guided by the overall theme of the 2024 ECOSOC and HLPF on “Reinforcing the 2030 Agenda and eradicating poverty in times of multiple crises: the effective delivery of sustainable, resilient and innovative solutions”

The forum brought together youth delegates and leaders from around the globe to discuss and share ideas towards addressing the UN SDGs and meeting the 2030 agenda. The forum consisted of an interesting mix of plenary sessions, panel discussions, regional forums and side events that allowed delegates to brainstorm and deliberate on various important topics pertaining to the UN SDGs. Harsh had the opportunity to provide inputs during the Qatar Debate on energy transition and the Asia Pacific (APAC) regional forum on the role of youth in APAC economies to advance the UN SDGs while charting their own economic development journey. He also had the opportunity to listen to Antonio Guterres, Honorable Secretary-General of the United Nations and Paula Narvaez, Honorable President of the Economic and Social Council.

On the sidelines of the youth forum, Harsh Mehta also had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of the United Nations Global Compact Office and meet with his extended PRME team based in New York.
