UN Conference on Trade & Development (UNCTAD) invites Prof. Anirudh Shingal

SPJIMR Prof. Anirudh Shingal was invited by United Nations Conference on Trade & Development (UNCTAD) to join a small group of experts in its multi-year expert meetings (MYEM) on ‘Data for Services Trade and Development Policies’. The 10th session of these meetings was held in Geneva recently, where Prof. Shingal talked about issues relating to the classification and availability of services trade data and best practices in their compilation.

The UNCTAD expert group aims to discuss data needs and gaps and identify funding and support for developing countries. Its findings will feed into the UNCTAD MYEM series on Trade Services and Development, which examines the role of services trade in economic diversification.

Prof. Anirudh Shingal is Associate Professor, Finance & Economics at SPJIMR. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Sussex, UK, and a master’s degree in International Law and Economics from the World Trade Institute, University of Bern, Switzerland. An avid researcher, his experience covers over 20 years of diverse roles with distinguished international organisations and institutions, such as the World Bank, WTO, World Trade Institute, and European University Institute.
