August 7, 2023

SPJIMR professors Vidyut Lata Dhir and Amit Jain presented an engaging virtual poster on , “Preparing future leaders for mental health challenges: Experience from teaching management graduates in India” at the prestigious American Psychological Association (APA) Convention 2023. They shared their personal experiences garnered from launching and executing the course “Mental Wellbeing at Workplace: Towards Managerial Effectiveness”, for SPJIMR’s Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) participants. They highlighted the multiple ways the course equips our future leaders to deal with mental wellbeing challenges in the corporate world.

As the world becomes increasingly aware of the importance of mental wellbeing, SPJIMR continues to be at the forefront of this essential conversation. SPJIMR launched VISHWAS a uniquely crafted counselling and development initiative for its community back in 2016, under the leadership of Prof. Vidyut Lata Dhir. VISHWAS conducts several positive interventions to nurture holistic well-being and mental health of the diverse and vibrant community at SPJIMR. Over the years it has evolved into a platform to engage in conversations about hope and resilience in a psychologically safe environment.

In an effort to further deepen our commitment to innovate and lead in the crucial area of mental wellbeing Prof. Vidyut Lata Dhir, in collaboration with Prof. Amit Jain, introduced a new course in the 2021-22 academic year: “Mental Wellbeing at Workplace: Towards Managerial Effectiveness”. This innovative course focuses on the critical aspects of managing mental wellbeing at work – the WHY, WHAT, and HOW.

Initiatives like VISHWAS and “Mental Wellbeing at Workplace: Towards Managerial Effectiveness”, highlight SPJIMR’s commitment to shape future leaders who are not only professionally skilled, but are also empathetic and aware individuals, capable of fostering healthier and more productive work environments.
