SPJIMR is pleased to share that Prof. Vidhu Shekhar, Associate Professor at SPJIMR, served on the Editorial Team of the Jharkhand Economic Survey 2025–26, released by the Department of Finance, Government of Jharkhand, and tabled in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on February 21, 2026.
The Economic Survey is the state’s principal pre-Budget document, presenting a comprehensive assessment of macroeconomic performance, fiscal indicators, sectoral developments, and policy priorities. As part of the Editorial Team, Prof. Shekhar contributed to the analytical structuring and overall coherence of the Survey, helping integrate diverse sectoral data into a unified macro-fiscal narrative.
Reflecting on the experience, Prof. Shekhar said, “State Economic Surveys play a vital role in grounding fiscal decisions in empirical evidence. Contributing to this edition was an opportunity to support a structured and data-driven presentation of Jharkhand’s economic trajectory and policy priorities.”
The 2025–26 Survey comes at an important juncture for Jharkhand as the state advances industrial development, infrastructure expansion, and social sector commitments within a framework of fiscal prudence. By consolidating growth trends, sectoral shifts, revenue dynamics, and expenditure priorities, the Survey provides a foundation for evidence-based budgeting and medium-term planning.
Increasing engagement between state finance departments and academic institutions underscores the importance of analytical rigour in contemporary economic governance. Such collaborations strengthen the institutional capacity for structured economic analysis and informed fiscal decision-making at the state level.
SPJIMR congratulates Prof. Shekhar on his contribution to this important policy document. The institute takes pride in faculty engagement that connects rigorous academic analysis with public policy practice and contributes to strengthening economic governance in the country.
