Structured interactions with FMB alumni

October 31, 2025

As part of the PGPFMB programme, participants engage in multiple sessions of structured interactions with alumni through ‘Family Fridays’ during the first phase. In these sessions, senior alumni who are now active contributors to the industry and the family business ecosystem share their experiences, insights, and practical learnings.

Participants of FMB 38 attended a ‘Family Friday’ session with Mr. Ronak Shah, alumnus of FMB 16 and Executive Director at V-Trans Group. He shared valuable insights on strengthening family alignment in business through a well-structured Family Business Constitution, effective communication frameworks, and a unified strategic direction. He also spoke about key considerations such as IPO readiness—evaluating whether a business truly needs to go public—approaches to pan-India expansion, and practical models that help sustain growth while preserving family values. The session was rich with real-life examples and practical takeaways, which significantly enhanced participants’ understanding of how to professionalise family-run businesses.

Another insightful session featured Ms. Surabhi Rao, alumna of FMB 16 and Director at Narsipur Chemicals. For the new batch, it was an engaging opportunity to learn from her FMB journey. She highlighted the importance of not being discouraged by the setbacks faced by previous generations, staying self-motivated to carry forward the family legacy, observing before expressing opinions, and most importantly—showing up, even when you are unsure of what to do.

Sessions like these offer tremendous learning value and create opportunities for participants to connect with alumni, fostering continued engagement and knowledge exchange long after the sessions conclude.
