SPJIMR Welcomes its PGDM Class of 2022 in an Online Inauguration Programme

August 1, 2020

SPJIMR welcomed the PGDM Class of 2022, consisting of 243 participants through the programme’s first ever-online inauguration, held on Saturday, August 1, 2020. The virtual ceremony was attended by incoming students, current students, faculty, and staff.

The programme began with the traditional SPJIMR Prayer ceremony. This was followed by an address by Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee who spoke about the values that constitute SPJIMR. The Dean stressed on the importance for students to be critical thinkers, to be able to learn from fresh perspectives and to be open to differing opinions. Through a personal anecdote he exemplified why collaboration and inter-dependency with others is an attribute of success and brings about personal happiness.

PGDM Chairperson, Dr. Sajeev Abraham George gave an overview of the programme’s course architecture and pedagogy. The curriculum gives a lot of emphasis on attitude building and developing value-based leaders while also helping students develop social sensitivity. The course inculcates in students the old school values of kindness, friendship and cooperation, keeping them in good stead in the campus as well as in their future careers.

Somesh Gupta, from the PGDM Class of 2021, shared stories of everyday life on campus and the emotion that is SPJIMR. Somesh’s fellow batchmates, Parth Thakker and Aanchal Khatwani, introduced the institute’s faculty to the students with witty one liners. Session hosts, Ms. Bianca D’Souza and Ms. Anika Kumar introduced the students to the institute’s staff and departments.

Alumni from the batch of 2020 came together in a fun video on the A-Z of SPJIMR. The participants were also taken on a virtual campus tour through a video collage of the institute’s popular spots. The session ended with the incoming students taking the SPJIMR oath and pledging to follow the institute’s honour code.
