February 2, 2021

SPJIMR’s Centre for Education in Social Sector (CEdSS) conducted its first-ever virtual Valedictory ceremony for the latest batch of ‘SAKSHAM’, on January 31, 2021.

In partnership with Novartis India, SPJIMR has designed ‘SAKSHAM’ (3 periodic modules, spread over few months), an innovative program for building the capability of key role-holders managing various entities in the health value chain (hospitals/doctors, patients/families, support/care-giving groups, NGOs, government health authorities, etc.), committed towards patient-centered care. The belief is that strengthening the eco-system will lead to increased effectiveness in the rollout of the health sector’s initiatives, and help organisations deliver sustainable impact.

The Chief Guest, Padma Shri Dr. Ashok K Vaid, Head of Oncology, Medanta, Gurugram, lauded the uniqueness of ‘Saksham’ in the Indian context and highlighted the role of ‘Participatory medicine’ in improving healthcare in India.

Mr. Saumil Mody, Country Head, Novartis Oncology, Mr. Prabhat Sinha, Novartis India, SPJIMR Dean Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, SPJIMR PGPDM Chairperson, Prof. Prabhat Pani and SPJIMR Prof. Dr. Suranjan Das were the other speakers at the event. Based upon the strong and positive feedback on the program, both the organisations renewed their commitment to extend the coverage of ‘Saksham’.

The highlight of the event was the sharing of the ‘Saksham’ experience by the participants who emphasised their learnings from the classes and the networking amongst participants, and reiterated their confidence on leveraging the learning to bring about substantial change, both individually and organizationally. The program ended with the distribution of “e-Certificates” to the participants.
