Greenovate: Innovating Sustainable Change

January 15, 2023

Today the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of objectives that progressive businesses and sectors worldwide are working towards in addition to their understandable emphasis on growth and profitability. Manufacturing companies are working to innovate and revisit their conventional methods of design, manufacturing, output, distribution, and after-sales in order to achieve this. Most of these strategies are based on innovation and leveraging newer and emerging technologies.

SPJIMR Centre for Innovation in Sustainable Development (CISD) and Tata Power partnered exclusively for the first edition of “Greenovate,” a special Sustainability Challenge. The objective of this challenge was to find innovative business solutions aimed at advancing the sustainability agenda of the company, which is now a major player in the field of renewable energy. More than 550 college students across India participated in “Greenovate.” The challenge consisted of three elimination rounds:

Round 1: A sustainability crossword

Round 2: An executive summary of the solution to the case given by Tata Power

Round 3: A detailed presentation of the solution to a panel of expert judges

At the end of these three rounds, two winning teams were announced.

1st Team Spectacular from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT)

2nd Team Re-Renergypreneurs, from the Indian Institute of Management, Rohtak (IIMR)

All the participants enjoyed the process of coming up with innovative solutions to real-world business problems impressing Tata Power with the array of solutions offered.
