SPJIMR Dean Varun Nagaraj attended the BT Best B-Schools & HR Summit, organised in Delhi by BusinessToday. The BT Best B-School & HR Summit brought together CXOs, business leaders, CHROs, solution providers, educational institutes, and other relevant stakeholders to discuss and deliberate best practices while preparing for a new era of work, workplace, and operational models that keep the human at the centre while maximising business outcomes.
Prof. Nagaraj joined Prof. Bharat Bhasker, Director, IIMA; Prof. Bhaskar Chakrabarti, Dean-Academics, Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta; Prof. Sangeeta S. Bhardwaj, Acting Director, MDI Gurgaon and Fr. S George, S J, Director, XLRI Jamshedpur in the session to discuss, “B-Schools in the AI Age: Case for Reinvention?”
He spoke about the impact of AI on management education and also about its effect on society and noted, “We as a management school serve society therefore as society’s dynamic change with AI the role of B-schools will have to withstand hard scrutiny…”.
As the panel discussed the relevance of the CAT exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Management to select MBA candidates, Prof. Nagaraj noted, “The CAT exam needs a relook. The greater weightage on aptitude makes the exam skewed towards engineers. This has consequences on gender diversity apart from academic diversity in the classrooms.”
