Confluence: FMB challenges meet management consulting solutions
Confluence serves as a live consulting platform designed to foster cross-programme collaboration between participants of the Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) and PGDM, PGDM (BM), and PGPM. Organised by SPJIMR’s CFBE annually, it enables practical learning through knowledge exchange to address real-world business challenges. PGPFMB participants present real-life challenges from their own family enterprises, while management students take on the role of professional consultants to analyse these problems and formulate viable, growth-oriented solutions. This collaborative exchange enhances the expertise of both groups and instills essential skills such as strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving, preparing future leaders for a constantly changing business ecosystem.

The Confluence Casebook institutionalises the learnings derived from this collaborative process.
An initiative led by the students of the CFBE ADMAP (Assessment and Development of Managerial and Administrative Potential) Committee, the twenty cases within these pages chronicle how students navigated the intersection of tradition and professionalisation. It captures a journey where the established wisdom of Family Managed Businesses (FMB) meets the analytical rigour of PGDM and PGDM(BM) students. By applying modern management logic to real-life obstacles, they helped owners move from instinct-driven decisions to strategic growth.
