Prof. Chandrika Parmar, Director, DoCC SPJIMR participated as a panellist in the seminar “Solutions for Sustainability and Inclusivity: Policy, Innovations and Collaborations” organised by the Centre for Responsible Business (CRB) in Mumbai. This seminar was the first in the series of events planned by CRB to commemorate the 10th anniversary of its flagship annual conference, ‘India and Sustainability Standards’
The panel moderated by Rijit Sengupta, Chief Executive Officer, Centre for Responsible Business included Sunita Purushottam, Head of Sustainability at Mahindra Lifespace Developers Ltd., Pratik Ghosh, Assistant Vice President of the Group Sustainability Cell at Aditya Birla Group, Yusuf Kabir, WASH & Climate Specialist from UNICEF India Maharashtra, and Pradeep Ramakrishnan, General Manager at SEBI.
The panel discussed perspectives on redefining existing policy reforms and actions to achieve sustainable and inclusive outcomes, especially for marginalised and vulnerable parties. It explored how to integrate climate, nature, and equity into technology and finance innovations, the roles of businesses and governments, strengthening collaboration in a competitive environment, and addressing cultural and pedagogic factors. Prof. Parmar emphasised that sustainability needs to be a way of life. Curriculum and innovative pedagogies she argued were critical to creating the sustainability mindset.
