SPJIMR Mumbai inaugurated the 22nd batch of its Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM), marking the start of an intensive on-campus learning journey for 152 participants. The event began with the customary lighting of the ceremonial lamp and the SPJIMR teacher–student prayers.
The new cohort brought a significant depth of professional expertise to the campus, representing a collective 684 years of work experience. With an average of 4.5 years of experience per student, the participants represented 87 distinct functions across 52 industries. This diverse group included professionals from sectors such as information technology, consulting, manufacturing, financial services, healthcare, and the public sector.
In her welcome address, Prof. Renuka Kamath, Associate Dean, Full-time Programmes, highlighted SPJIMR’s culture and values. She encouraged the students to remain curious and to read widely to broaden their perspectives beyond the traditional classroom setting.
Prof. Anshul Verma, the PGPM chairperson, outlined the curriculum’s academic rigour. He introduced the H-shaped manager model to the new batch, explaining how it facilitates career acceleration, leadership readiness, and the ownership of personal learning. Additionally, Prof. Amol Dhaigude, PGPM deputy chairperson, welcomed the students in a creative and engaging manner, setting a positive tone for their academic journey.
Passing out graduates Geetika Bhatia and Karan Seth, representing PGPM batch 21, shared honest reflections on their own experiences. They emphasised that regardless of initial preparation, the journey would be demanding yet deeply rewarding. They advised the new cohort to involve themselves wholeheartedly and remain open to learning, noting that the year would pass quickly.
The SPJIMR community extended its best wishes to the new participants as they began their pursuit of academic excellence. PGPM at SPJIMR is designed to help experienced professionals advance their careers and transition into leadership roles.
