Financial support

SPJIMR FPM offers a fully-funded residential programme and generous aid to support the scholars.

SPJIMR offers comprehensive financial support to FPM scholars to facilitate high-quality academic research without financial constraints. The support includes a tuition fee waiver, monthly stipend, contingency grant, and conference funding, disbursed in structured phases over the course of the programme.

Stipend and financial assistance

FPM scholars receive a monthly stipend for the first four years of the programme. The stipend is disbursed in phases aligned with the progression of the programme:

Phase Monthly Stipend (INR)
Phase 1: Coursework ₹40,000
Phase 2: After clearing the Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE) ₹42,000
Phase 3: After successful thesis proposal defence ₹45,000

The stipend is subject to satisfactory academic progress and fulfilment of programme requirements.

Additional support

House rent allowance (HRA): ₹10,000 per month

This structured support ensures financial stability throughout the programme, encouraging scholars to focus on their academic and research endeavours.

  • Contingency grant

Each scholar receives a contingency grant to support academic expenses such as:

    • Purchase of books and stationery
    • Subscription to software and academic tools
    • Data collection-related expenses

The exact amount and disbursal guidelines are communicated upon joining the programme.

  • Conference support

FPM scholars are eligible to attend conferences after they successfully complete their Comprehensive Qualifying Examination (CQE).

The scholars will be allowed to attend one conference per year, out of which they can attend one international conference in the entire tenure of the programme, as recommended by the guide(s).

The expenses would be based on the institute’s travel policy.

  • Research grants

The institute also supports FPM scholars for their research.

Examples of research grants include costs for running a lab experiment, receiving survey responses, etc.

The participant can contact the FPM office for a discussion, and if the grant request is feasible, the institute will extend its support.

The FPM office looks into the requests on a case-by-case basis.
