Strengthening global partnerships: AACSB leaders at SPJIMR

SPJIMR welcomed senior leaders from AACSB International, the world’s largest business education alliance, to its Mumbai campus. AACSB, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, is the global standard-setting body for business education, strengthening the world’s business schools through accreditation, thought leadership, and transformative learning.
The delegation, led by Lily Bi, President & CEO, AACSB, along with Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer (Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership), and Prathap Das, Regional Head – South Asia, visited SPJIMR Mumbai to engage with its community and explore its distinctive approach to values-based, socially conscious management education.
Their visit celebrated SPJIMR’s distinctive approach to management education — blending academic rigour with societal impact. The AACSB delegation engaged with faculty, students, and leadership through vibrant interactions across our flagship initiatives, including:
- A live session of the PGDM and PGDM (BM) ‘Business in the Digital Age’ course facilitated by Dean Varun Nagaraj, alongside professors Ashish Desai, Dhruven Zala and Abhishek Kumar Jha. The session discussed emerging trends and AI use cases in the areas of marketing, information management and analytics, finance and operations, and supply chain management with second-year full-time programme participants and respective area heads — professors: Ashita Aggrawal, Jyoti Jagasia, Vinay Goyal, and Nilendra Singh Pawar.
- An insightful dialogue with participants from the SPJIMR DoCC social internship programme led by Prof. Chandrika Parmar, highlighting SPJIMR’s engagement with grassroots organisations and communities.
- A Q&A-style faculty interaction session with Lily Bi and Geoff Perry discussing the role and impact of AI on business education, academic research, as well as AACSB’s future strategies, from decolonising education to restructuring their frameworks to include emerging innovations in management education.
- An inspiring engagement with Abhyudaya-SPJIMR mentors, Sitaras, and their parents, facilitated by Arati Nagaraj.
The day concluded with a leadership dialogue on ‘AI and the Future of Business Education’, attended by deans, directors, and vice-chancellors from leading institutions. SPJIMR professors Janakiraman Moorthy, Associate Dean of Academics and Research, and Amit Jain, Assistant Professor of Organisation and Leadership Studies, presented insights on integrating AI into management education as part of the dialogue.
Commenting on her day at the SPJIMR campus, Lily Bi said, “I’ve learnt so much from SPJIMR and its leadership. What stands out is how AI and impact are woven into every conversation — not just in teaching and research, but in your engagement with communities near and far.”
