SPJIMR & POMS India Chapter hosted the conference “Building Resilience in Supply Chains and Communities”

SPJIMR & Production and Operations Management Society (POMS) India Chapter hosted the conference “Building Resilience in Supply Chains and Communities” which concluded on Dec 24, 2021. The three-day conference was Chaired by Dr. Debmallya Chatterjee, Head of the Operations & Supply Chain area at SPJIMR with Prof. Subodha Kumar, Professor at Temple University, Pennsylvania.

The first day of the conference featured a doctoral colloquium with a keynote address by eminent academician and scholar Dr Janat Shah, Dean – IIM Udaipur, India. The colloquium also hosted a workshop by Dr. Harita and Dr. Sirish from IIM-B and IIM-Trichy.

Besides the doctoral colloquium, the conference featured three keynotes: first one by Prof. Janat Shah, Director, IIMU, another by Dr. Kamalini Ramdas, London Business School, and the third on community resilience by Dr. Malavaika Chauhan, Deputy Director – Design, and Head – Rural Upliftment portfolio at the Tata Trusts. Dean Dr, Varun Nagaraj in his welcome address spoke about creating sustainability and diversity in the Supply Chain.

The conference will witness keynotes/workshops/panel discussions and will bring leading supply chain professionals and academicians to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the supply chain sector and measures that helped in managing the crisis. Chief Guest and SPJIMR alumnus Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, ED, Auto and Farm Div, Mahindra & Mahindra in his address spoke about creating success for the organization by giving back to society.

The Dean’s panel moderated by SPJIMR Dean, Dr. Varun Nagaraj aimed at understanding the directions for business education post-COVID-19. The conference also included an industry panel on the theme: ‘Digitisation of Supply Chains for resilience’ and a workshop aimed at helping researchers from India structure their papers for quality journals, led by Prof. Aravind Chandrasekaran from Ohio State University. The conference brought together leading supply chain professionals and academicians to discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the supply chain sector and measures that helped in managing the crisis.
