Post Graduate Management Programme for Women (PG-MPW) is launched

January 16, 2017

SPJIMR’s newest programme, the Post Graduate Programme for Women (PG-MPW), took off on the morning of 16th January 2017, with the inaugural batch of participants being welcomed to the SPJIMR family.

The successful inauguration of the PG-MPW marks a new milestone in SPJIMR’s growth as a school of management noted for its innovative programmes that serve wide sections of society.

The PG-MPW is a programme specifically designed for women seeking to return to the workforce after having taken a break in their careers.

Dr. Ranjan Banerjee, the Dean of SPJIMR, said, “Why do women drop out of the workplace? It is due to patriarchal nature of the society and in some cases, out of choice.”

“I have no doubt that you’ll make history. Each one of you is a catalyst for change. Generations after you will come to you for advice,” he added.

Dr. Sumita Datta, Head of the PG-MPW, said, “The PG-MPW is as much a leap of faith for the participants as it is for us. The future of India will be defined by gender inclusion in all areas of life. There is a need for gender balance, especially at the managerial level, in corporate India.”

“We at SPJIMR aim to facilitate the re-integration of women into the corporate world,” added Dr. Datta.
