A snapshot into life at SPJIMR

Being a part of SPJIMR, one of the top business schools in the country, comes with a unique blend of expectations, dreams, pressure, and perks! One of such perks, being a member of the communications committee, is the opportunity to be a part of fun photoshoots for a host of business magazines and websites, thanks to our institute consistently ranking amongst the top 3 business schools in India.

The first time I took part in one such shoot, I was filled with a cocktail of emotions: a sense of pride at my college’s achievement, excitement to represent this institute, and nervousness typical to any camera-conscious amateur model. We donned our crisp, freshly pressed shirts and pants, looking every bit professional, and got ready to strike a pose, giving viewers a snapshot into life at SPJIMR.

A month had passed before the piece was released, and we finally got to see which of the fifty-something shots made the cut. The chosen one, however, took me by surprise. It was a candid moment captured between our posed smiles. As I looked at that shot, all of us laughing at something on my laptop, I remembered our conversation at that moment – light jokes passed around as we took a breather from the academic rigour characteristic of any management programme.

Seeing that picture filled me with immense gratitude for the photographer who had frozen that moment of genuine happiness and camaraderie. It reminded me to treasure these candid, unscripted slices of life that often speak louder than the most meticulously planned moments. I quickly bookmarked that page, a lasting reminder that the most authentic portraits of joy and connection often emerge in the unguarded, spontaneous moments we share.
