Faculty

A rich and lively student-teacher interaction is at the heart of SPJIMR's success. Our faculty members are known to be great teachers, who can bring alive the subject, encourage critical thinking and offer a wider, holistic perspective that is critical in today's complex business environment.

Our faculty members are drawn from academia, industry, government sector and non-profits. Collectively, they bring in a wide range of experience in building and delivering knowledge and skills to prepare participants for leadership roles.

The teaching-learning process at SPJIMR is vastly enriched by a series of non-classroom initiatives through which our faculty help build among participants the right attitudes to enable them lead with purpose, meaning and with an idea of service to society.

The average experience of the core faculty is over 18 years, with several who have come to academics after years of experience as practitioners. In addition, we have around 20 adjunct faculty and several more visiting faculty who engage with participants of various courses.

Dr. Janakiraman Moorthy is Professor in the Marketing Area. Dr. Moorthy has been associated as visiting professor at Krannert School of Management and at Purdue University in marketing department. Before this, he served as Director and Professor of Marketing at Institute of Management Technology, Dubai.

He has also been a Professor of Marketing at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and Indian Institute of Management Lucknow. He held a visiting position at Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok (AIT) as Professor of Marketing. He has wide experience in banking and CRM. Research and Project Director of the Institute for Customer Relationship Management, Atlanta USA. He received his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.

Janakiraman has taught extensively in the Executive Education programs offered by 1IMC and IML. He had been Chairperson of the Executive Education Program at lIM Lucknow, and Chairperson of Admissions at IIM Calcutta. He was the Convener of the prestigious Common Admissions Test 2011, administered for selecting students for all the lMs, management programs of iITs and other business schools in India. He was co-chair and host of AMA Sheth Foundation Doctoral Consortium held at Dubai during January 2015.

His teaching interest include marketing research and analytics, customer relationship management, new product development and product management. His current research focuses on exploring new methods for marketing decision making and marketing productivity analysis. His recent research papers were published in peer reviewed journals such as Marketing Science, Journal of Marketing Channels, Internationals Journal of Bank Marketing, Journal of Database Marketing & Customer Strategy Management, Britis Food Journal, Journal of Information Technology Case and Application Research, and Vikalpa.
