GMP curriculum and programme structure

The programme includes the following phases –

Preparatory term

Foundation

Term 1 and 2

Upon enrolment, participants gain exclusive access to Harvard Business Publishing Courses, a world leader in management resources. This preparatory phase ensures all students, regardless of background, build a strong baseline in quantitative methods, financial accounting, finance, spreadsheet modelling using Excel, management communication and mathematics for management. The GMP programme architecture is designed to be flexible while accommodating the specific credit recognition requirements of partner schools.

The programme provides comprehensive coverage of core management courses such as leadership, strategy, marketing, finance, supply chain, and operations, alongside cutting-edge data science courses such as AI and digital transformation, business modelling, ELT, data storytelling, and digital product management. Mandatory courses include project management (with PDUs that students can then use to pursue PMI certification), problem-solving using design thinking and quantitative methods for decision science. Foreign language (German or French) training up to 200 hours is mandatory. This prepares students for their international destinations.

  • Academic rigour and outcomes: The programme demands a high level of engagement through a mix of classroom contact, individual assignments and collaborative group work.
  • Credit structure: Participants complete 54 credits at SPJIMR. Each credit represents 10.5 classroom contact hours.
  • Pedagogy: Learning is reinforced through pre-reads, case studies, presentations, and rigorous assessments.
  • Certification: Upon successful completion of the SPJIMR component, participants receive a GMP certificate. Following the subsequent study period abroad, the international partner school awards the final MBA or MS degree.

Programmes offered by GMP in collaboration with the US Schools are STEM-designated. This gives 3 years of OPT to students after graduation. So, the timelines for these schools are as follows:

  • GMP: January – July
  • Semester I in the US – September
  • Semester II ends in April
  • Internship from May/June
  • Semester – III completion depends on the partner school and the specialisation chosen

As the internship cycles start around May/June every year, it aligns well with the January intake. This also goes well with the STEM requirement of studying for at least two semesters in the US, full time, without which a student is not eligible to take up internships in the US.

June admission cycle

Business School University
Aston Business School Aston University, Birmingham, UK
Beedie School of Business Simon Fraser University, Vancouver, Canada
EBS Business School EBS Universität, Oestrich-Winkel, Germany

The June intake is mostly for the European B-Schools. There is no specific internship cycle in Europe, like in the US. Internships can be done as per partner school requirements and internship availability. Local language is a very important element of integrating with the country and acquiring internships. So, a lot of emphasis is laid on language training and approx. 200 hours of language classes are covered. The partner schools along with support from alumni actively help GMP participants to seek internships and jobs.
