Join the movement towards a greener, prosperous future
The Agrivoltaics Adoption Workshop is a 2-day residential workshop designed for farmer groups, NGOs, and renewable energy companies from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The EarthON Foundation, in association with SPJIMR’s Centre for Development of Corporate Citizenship and the SwitchON Foundation, will host farmer collectives, FPOs, NGOs, renewable energy entrepreneurs, and key stakeholders at SPJIMR, Mumbai, on December 13–14, 2025. The workshop is designed to build awareness, strengthen capacity, and encourage early adoption of agrivoltaic systems in India.
Agrivoltaics is the practice of growing crops under solar panels. It enables farmers to harvest both food and clean energy from the same land. It enhances farm resilience, reduces water loss, and increases income from dual revenue streams. This workshop provides a unique opportunity to learn directly from experts and practitioners who lead successful models across India.
Purpose of the workshop
To familiarise participants with the concept, technology, and benefits of agrivoltaics — and to identify potential microsite locations for pilot demonstrations and adoption.
Who should attend
Farmer-producer organisations (FPOs)
Agricultural cooperatives and collectives
NGOs working in rural livelihoods and energy
Renewable energy companies and start-ups
Workshop format
A two-day residential workshop featuring:
- Technical sessions on agrivoltaics design, structures, and cost components
- Policy and finance dialogues with experts and institutions
- Experience sharing by successful FPOs and farmers
Please note:
- A fixed travel reimbursement, stay, and meals will be covered by EarthON Foundation.
- Participants will be hosted in simple yet comfortable shared accommodation, with wholesome meals provided throughout the workshop.
- Travel reimbursement up to ₹5,000 will be offered to participants travelling from/within Maharashtra and up to ₹10,000 for those travelling from outside the state.
Expected outcomes
- Deeper understanding of agrivoltaics and its relevance for Indian farming
- Awareness of available financial and policy support systems
- Exposure to real farmer experiences and successful use cases
- Identification of potential microsite locations and partners for pilot projects
- Launch of a Call for Proposals post-workshop for farmers and renewable energy vendors to receive implementation support

About the India agrivoltaics programme
The agrivoltaics programme by the EarthON Foundation is a year-long initiative aimed at advancing the adoption, innovation, and entrepreneurship in agrivoltaics — a combination of solar power and agriculture for resilient rural livelihoods. The programme includes four key components:
Greenovation Agrivoltaics Challenge
Awarding Farmer Groups and DRE Companies to Advance Adoption & Innovation, a national challenge designed to catalyse agrivoltaics adoption and innovation by empowering farmer groups to pilot live on-field systems and supporting DRE companies to deploy efficient, small-scale agrivoltaics solutions. Selected participants will receive financial awards, training, and support to establish demonstration systems, bridging the gap between concept and on-the-ground impact. Know more
Agrivoltaics cohorts
A year-long capacity-building program for FPOs, NGOs, and collectives, combining training, site visits, and mentorship to help participants design, implement, and manage agrivoltaics systems. The December workshop marks the launch of the first cohort in Maharashtra, nurturing a network of early adopters and practitioner champions.
Funding for demonstration sites
Through the programme, EarthON Foundation will support:
- 10–15 kW micro-demonstration sites for early-stage adopters and farmer group.
- 50–100 kW pilot sites for established FPOs or cooperatives ready to scale Each selected group will receive viability grant support (₹8.5 lakh for microsites and ₹43 lakh for pilots) and technical mentorship for system design, deployment, and monitoring.
Capacity Building and Research
The programme will strengthen capacity among farmer collectives, FPOs, and DRE enterprises through training, workshops, and exposure visits. It will also generate research and field evidence to guide the adoption of scalable agrivoltaics and inform policy design across states.
