June 11, 2025

Advance your career in the social sector with SPJIMR’s modular PGPDM—ideal for professionals in or intending to work in the development sector

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) has announced that admissions for Batch 26 of its Post Graduate Programme in Development Management (PGPDM) will close on June 30, 2025. This is a critical opportunity for professionals in the social sector—or those looking to transition into it—to apply for a globally accredited programme designed to build strategic leadership and maximise social impact. The batch begins in August 2025.

The PGPDM is India’s only Development Management Programme to be internationally accredited by EQUIS, AACSB, and AMBA—the prestigious ‘Triple Crown’ of global excellence. It offers a unique blend of academic rigour and practical learning tailored for professionals working in the social sector. Since its inception in November 2011, the PGPDM has significantly impacted over 350 organisations across 26 Indian states.

“There is a growing recognition that while CSR funds have increased significantly, the skills required to deploy them effectively have not kept pace. This mismatch between expectations and outcomes calls for urgent capacity building in the social sector,” said Prof. Tanojkumar Meshram, Chairperson, PGPDM, SPJIMR. He further added: “At SPJIMR, our modular PGPDM bridges the gap between traditional social work and rigorous management principles. As we prepare to welcome our next cohort, we look forward to engaging with passionate changemakers committed to driving sustainable societal impact.”

PGPDM is a 12-month modular programme that equips participants with the knowledge, skills, and perspectives required to drive social change, blending academic theory with real-world application. Structured to balance work and study, it offers 30 courses delivered over six contact periods, including both on-campus and online modules. The first, third, and final contacts are held at SPJIMR’s Mumbai campus.

The programme is well-suited for professionals currently working in NGOs, foundations, social enterprises, and CSR roles who aspire to leadership positions. It also benefits social impact fund managers, consultants, and public sector and government officials working on welfare and policy initiatives.

Mid-career professionals from other sectors seeking a meaningful transition to leadership positions within the development sector will find the PGPDM a transformative platform. The curriculum focuses on innovation, scalability, impact, and sustainability with an emphasis on SDGs and ESG, preparing graduates to meet current and future sector demands. PGPDM alumni hold leadership roles such as founders, heads, trustees, directors, CSR managers, programme officers, and consultants across the social impact ecosystem.
