S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) inaugurated the ninth batch of the AICTE approved Post Graduate Programme in General Management (PGPGM) for working executives at its Mumbai and Delhi campuses.
September 6th marked the first step in the 2-year journey of 78 mid-career executives enrolled in the PGPGM programme to fulfil their dream of doing an Executive MBA in preparation for leadership roles. Setting the tone for their journey ahead, Prof. Preeta George, Associate Dean, Executive Education, highlighted the SPJIMR philosophy of collaborative working and emphasised the necessity of management schools and business leaders working with multiple stakeholders to create a positive societal impact.
The importance of staying focused on their goals, unlearning and reinventing was emphasised by the Chief Guests, Ms. Rohini Laya Venkateswaran, Chief Sales Officer for the Indian Sub-Continent at P&G, and Mr. Sharad Malhotra, Director and President of Nippon Paint India. Aiming high, persevering and adopting responsible leadership with a focus on wise innovation was the advice shared by Prof. Ruppal W Sharma, Programme Chairperson, and Prof. Avinash Ghalke, Deputy Programme Chairperson, PGPGM.
PGPGM batch 9 comprises professionals representing diverse sectors, including consulting, automotive, banking and financial services, IT/ITES, retail, engineering, energy, and healthcare. The cohort features executives from leading organisations such as PwC, Boston Consulting Group, MakeMyTrip, IBM, EY, American Express, Zydus, Tata Motors, and Maruti Suzuki among others.
The batch profile reflects a wealth of industry experience: 47% of participants bring more than eight years of professional experience, of which 18% bring over 12 years.
Participants shared how the programme aligns with their aspirations.
Swapnil Shinde noted, “As a mid-career professional, I wanted to build on my technical skills with management education. Taking a career break was not an option due to financial responsibilities. This course offers two major benefits: weekend classroom sessions that allow me to continue learning while working, and a smaller batch size that encourages interaction and engagement.”
Karan emphasised the flexibility: “This programme gives me the flexibility to continue my job while being available for classes on weekends.”
Yamini Rastogi highlighted its application-driven approach: “What stood out about PGPGM was its focus on application-based learning and flexibility. I could pursue an MBA without a career break and immediately apply what I learnt at work.”
With this inauguration, SPJIMR formally welcomed the new cohort, marking the beginning of their transformative academic journey.
