The participants of batch 36 from the Post Graduate Programme in Family Managed Business (PGPFMB) undertook a nine-day immersion programme at Esade Business School, Barcelona, Spain. This programme combined meticulously curated sessions focusing on key areas such as entrepreneurial orientation required to become a global business leader, cross-cultural sensitivity in communication, understanding the Spanish and EU landscape, leading change in global organisations, strategy pitch and more. Along with dedicated academic learning in the form of classroom sessions and simulation, participants also visited Veritas Foods – a supermarket chain in Barcelona specialising in healthy and sustainable food. Leading faculty members from the global family business domain facilitated these sessions and visits, enhancing the participants’ educational experience.
Additionally, a networking event facilitated interactions between PGPFMB participants and partner business school students from family business backgrounds, creating cross-geography connections and invaluable opportunities for international networking.
Esade – a triple-accredited institute, is a business school, a member of the UNIJES network of Jesuit universities and has been part of the Ramon Llull University since 1995. It was founded in collaboration with the Society of Jesus in 1958 with a commitment to generating a positive and major change in business, entrepreneurship, and people.
International immersions like this play a vital role in shaping SPJIMR participants into globally minded business leaders. The PGPFMB, designed to equip new entrants in family businesses with skills for personal and enterprise growth, emphasises preserving the legacy of previous generations while fostering sustainable success. Launched in 1997, it remains India’s pioneering programme in this domain.
